With all the potential talk about a Sidney Crosby trade, the Pittsburgh Penguins captain wanted to set the record straight regarding a deal to Toronto; or anywhere.

One day, when Sidney Crosby is elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame, it will celebrate the career of one of the greatest players to ever lace up his skates, but one who carried himself with the utmost grace, humility, and class.
A legend even before he was drafted, he was taken by Pittsburgh in 2005 first overall and has never looked back. Three Stanley Cups, two MVPs, Olympic Gold, and pretty much everything else you can think of; he's won it and is one of the greatest Penguins to ever play.
But recently his team has struggled to get it together and haven't made the playoffs the past three seasons and haven't won anything past a second round since they hoisted the Cup in 2016-17 and there have been potential talks about a trade for Sid the Kid; as insane as that sounds.

Sidney Crosby Responds to Rumors Linking Him to the Maple Leafs and Other Teams

No doubt wherever he goes he would be an incredible addition, but the price alone to acquire him is astronomical, though it sounds like it really doesn't matter what it is: Crosby isn't heading anywhere.
Speaking to The Athletic's Josh Yohe, Crosby was stern and honest in his thoughts about a potential deal and poured some ice cold water on those heated rumors:
There's a lot of narratives out there, and I don't think a lot of those have come from me. This is where I want to be. I love it here.
Crosby was handing out season tickets to Penguins fans along with Evgeni Malkin, as he normally does and is often mingling about with the Pittsburgh community; one who loves him so dearly.
It was Crosby's agent, Pat Brisson who decided to stir the pot initially stating earlier that Crosby could "end up playing somewhere else" this season if Pittsburgh falters, but with the captain having the final say: If he wants to stay, he's staying.
For any team looking to acquire him, that's definitely a gut punch however what do you expect from a guy who has been so loyal and dedicated to the team; heck, he signs his contracts for $8.7-million; his jersey number.
When you're that engrained in the team's identity and on the same level as someone who literally owned the team he played for at one point, it's going to be hard to pry him away. Why would Crosby want to win somewhere else when he's won it all?
It was always a pipe dream for the Maple Leafs, or anyone for that matter to find a way to trade for Sidney Crosby. Though we can never guarantee anything in the NHL, Sid the Kid staying in Pittsburgh is about as close as we can get.
