The Toronto Maple Leafs' head coach, Sheldon Keefe, appears to have chosen his starting goalie for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Now could be the last time to put the number one goalie between the pipes before the start of the playoffs. Considering that teams often like to let players rest in the last few games of the year, at least to avoid injuries, it would make sense for a playoff starting goalie to play the next game but sit out for the rest of them.
With Joseph Woll and Martin Jones ready to step in, and Matt Murray on the verge of making a comeback, Samsonov, the unofficial number one in Toronto, could play his last game of the season tonight, against the New Jersey Devils.
Samsonov showed great talent in last year's playoffs, and unless he gets injured, it would make sense to see him between the pipes for the first round.
