Over the last few years, the Maple Leafs have taken plenty of criticism for the lack of elite level talent coming through the organization, but with training camp ahead of the 2024/25 campaign on the horizon, that may not be the case anymore.
As for Kampf, he plays a solid role on the fourth line, tallying 8 goals and 19 points in a solid 79 games a season ago, but with the loaded top-six being relied on a little too heavily for offense, if the team believe Cowan or Minten are ready to take the next step to the NHL, he may be the first to lose his roster spot.
No matter who is currently in or out of the Maple Leafs lineup, this competition will be a positive factor heading into training camp, and while the veterans likely have their hand on their spot in the lineup currently, if Cowan and Minten turn up to camp and show out, new Head Coach Craig Berube has some tough choices to make.
