Former Flyers forward Scott Laughton is reflecting on his time with the Leafs so far and also discusses his impending matchup against his former club.
As part of the bolstering of their lineup at the Trade Deadline, the Toronto Maple Leafs brought in forward Scott Laughton from the struggling Philadelphia Flyers.
But so far, Laughton hasn't exactly impressed. In the 8 games he's played since putting on a Maple Leafs sweater, Laughton has zero points; he also saw his ice time decrease to below 10 minutes during Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators, a 5-2 loss.
The Leafs, who host Laughton's former Flyers teammates tomorrow night, are hoping for more out of one of their key acquisitions. While speaking about his time with Toronto so far, Laughton admitted that "it's been crazy" but that he thinks he's finally beginning to discover his footing.
It's been crazy for sure. But I think I'm starting to find my footing. I think my game in Nashville was one of my better ones, so build on it. It doesn't really matter the role here, I think you try and help this team.
Laughton also paid it forward by taking out the Flyers' team trainers and support staff after they arrived in Toronto from their game in Chicago.
For Laughton, it will be a new experience to face so many of his former teammates for the first time.
We've talked about it our whole careers if we play against each other. We usually like to chirp a little bit. It'll be pretty funny seeing him on the other side.
Laughton, who the Flyers took 20th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, has played in 669 career NHL games and has 265 points (106G, 159A).
The Maple Leafs will need him to be at his best and al we can hope for is it starts with some vengeance against his old team.
