Scott Laughton Breaks Silence After Scoring First Goal with the Maple Leafs

With Scott Laughton finally getting the monkey off his back and scored his first goal with the Maple Leafs, showing things might be turning around for the center.
Fans can hope that this is the first domino to fall for the forward and he can keep the goal-scoring up as Toronto heads into some very crucial games heading into the final month of the season.
Scott Laughton Relieved About Scoring But Wants To Win First And Foremost
Laughton was happy with lighting the lamp, however it didn't mean much to the veteran given Toronto's 6-5 loss, and stated he would have much rather taken a zero and a win:
It was nice probably for my own confidence, and nice to get one for sure. But it would've been a lot nicer to get a win and not score.
That confidence is going to be key for Toronto figuring things out going forward especially in a gruelling last stretch of the season.
It doesn't get easier for them either, with Anaheim being their next best shot at building momentum against a weaker team before they face Florida, Ottawa, Carolina, and a slew of other top level teams.
Hopefully for
Laughton, who has 28 points in 70 games (12G, 16A) it's going to lead to good things for him going forward. The Maple Leafs paid a premium for him with a first round pick and fan-favourite
Nikita Grebenkin, and it's been a rough start for him since coming over.
It's not only up to Laughton though, as the whole team needs to start pulling their weight and not getting too complacent especially with some very winnable games.
But if that roughness smooths out over the next couple of weeks, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be in good hands, and if Laughton can keep scoring while bringing the team a victory, then postseason time may be just a little bit easier this time around.
