NHL Analyst Paul Bissonnette had a very interesting proposition for the Maple Leafs, leading the fans to react exactly how you would expect them to.

If you were looking for Spittin' Chiclets co-host Paul Bissonnette to stop being a Leafs fan after their latest playoff failure, you'd be sorely mistaken. A true passionate diehard, Bissonnette is no stranger to showing his favoritism.
But after doing some soul-searching after the Maple Leafs fell to the Florida Panthers, and the future of Mitch Marner so far murkier than ever, Bissonnette thinks he has the answer.
And it's extremely surprising.

Run Back The Core 4: Paul Bissonnette's Bold Request

Speaking on his podcast, 'Spittin Chiclets', the man known as Biz-Nasty relented that Toronto should probably give it a go for one more year; Marner included:
After a few days of thinking, you'll think I'm crazy. But, seeing how this series has gone with Carolina, I would offer Marner 8x12, take it or leave it and I would consider running it back if JT takes a hometown discount.

It's kinda like I'm addicted to a drug and I wanna prove people wrong with that Core Four. I just wanted to say I would offer him 8x12, you're a coward if you don't take this, you still have a lot to prove.

Let's roll it back, hit the gym, enough with the boat on Muskoka; let's hit the f***** gym and win a mug with this Core Four. Let's go.
You'd think Bissonnette was smelling too many salts with his request, but it's not too crazy realistically.

Mitch Marner's Betting On Himself With Hardly Any Chips

Sure, there's the money issue, but Marner would get the same amount as Mikko Rantanen albeit with a horrible decrease in playoff production, keep him in a city where he'll break records, and allow him to still play with one his best friends.
Fans however, are not too pleased with the potential notion that he wants to run it back once more.
Seeing Tavares re-sign on a team friendly deal, and a move to extend Matthew Knies will have Marner on the outside looking in.
He'll be a big fish elsewhere, but with a new team and unfamiliar territory, can he thrive as much as his contract might pay him?
He can certainly say "Look, I just hit 100 points, have 393 of them in the last four seasons, and can prove I can succeed without Auston Matthews" then sure, a team might be willing to pay him more than that $12M.
But they'll take a look at his playoff performance, his constant complaining and throwing of teammates under the bus and lack of accountability as huge red flags.
Do you want to pay a player for only 82 games, or are you trying to win a Cup?
That's the question Toronto has had to ask themselves, and Marner very well be their best chance to win one in this current window.
At least that's what Bissonnette hopes for, he just might need to start another prayer circle though.
