Some new stats show that Auston Matthews might be in some serious trouble come playoff time, as he needs to start shooting more as historically; he hasn't been.

There are some serious questions regarding whether or not the Maple Leafs are going to be able to handle life without Mitch Marner or if they are going to end up faltering, and perhaps be on the outside looking in.
A lot of the responsibility lies upon captain Auston Matthews' shoulders, and if the team is going to have any modicum of success this season, then they are surely going to need him to be the best possible version of himself and that means scoring goals.
It was a bit of a downturn last season and while he's expected to be at 100% and be a force again, it's a bit tough to see him being immediately back to his scoring prowess come the first game of the season.

Auston Matthews: Scared To Shoot?

But the real question remains how will he do in the playoffs, and looking at some stats that were recently revealed; it doesn't look pretty.
These new stats show that while Matthews has no problem shooting the puck in the regular season, he suddenly becomes allergic to it once the postseason comes around.
Why he decides to hesitate is anyone's guess, and there may have been a few times that he waited that extra second or two in order to make a decision and it ended up costing him goals and potentially change the outcome of certain games.

Why Auston Matthews Needs To Be Aggressive

First and foremost he needs to prove to everyone he's at 100% and what better way to do that than to fire tons of shots on net and show his wrist, hand, back or whatever was ailing him isn't anymore.
The team's offense runs through Matthews, and with his sidekick no longer in tow, it's even more imperative he carries the load, and it's been a decade; he needs to show the fans he can produce when it matters.
Whether it's a Game 7 dominating performance, or being able to lead to the team to a dominant series where they cruise through the first two rounds pretty easily, and even give the Panthers a run for their money.
But whatever way you slice it, Auston Matthews needs to be more aggressive and start shooting the puck more.
it's how you score goals, after all.
