Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson left Monday night's game against the Avalanche after blocking a shot and did not return.
Monday's late night game between the Maple Leafs and Avalanche started off fast and furious with several big chances early as both sides had fire to kick off the clash between two hot clubs.
But things turned unfortunate really quickly for the Maple Leafs as less than five minutes into the game, forward Nick Robertson blocked a shot and immediately went down in a heap and was unable to put any weight on the left side of his leg.
The team then announced later on that Robertson would be out the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury:
He was helped up and made his way off the ice, and it looked quite serious. Robertson was also seen chatting with trainers in the tunnel and seeing if he was good enough to head back onto the ice.
Toronto can't afford to lose Nick Robertson
Robertson has been solid this season and really picked things up over the last ten games. He has 22 points in 42 games (12 goals, 10 assists) while adding 47 hits, 21 blocks and an even plus/minus rating of zero.
It would be unfortunate to lose Robertson for any length of time as he's really found his stride alongside Nicolas Roy and Easton Cowan and yet another blow to the Maple Leafs who have just started turning the corner when it comes to injuries.
If Robertson were to miss time it would be a huge blow to the offense, but especially for Robertson's confidence as he already tied his point total from last year and is on pace to crush his career-highs in goals, assists, and points.
It's likely fans will get an update after the game, and with Toronto heading into a tough road trip it'll be crucial to know exactly when the team can expect to have Robertson back.
