The National Hockey League has announced an update to Matthew Knies' tying goal against the Ottawa Senators in the second period of Game 4 on Saturday night.

The Ottawa Senators beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 4 of their Round 1 Battle of Ontario series, a 4-3 OT win to help them stave off elimination and force Game 5 on Tuesday.
Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson's floating shot from the point beat Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz, who didn't see the shot until it had already gotten by him.
The Senators had a 2-0 lead before John Tavares scored late in the first period; Matthew Knies then tied the game at 10:12 of the 2nd period after he beat Linus Ullmark on a backhand-forehand deke.
Today, the NHL has announced a scoring change on Knies' goal; an assist has been added to captain Auston Matthews.

Matthew and Matthews; A Great Combination

Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube loved what he saw from Knies on his goal while acknowledging that the entire organization has been impressed by him.
He's a powerful guy, and what really impressed me was, it looked like he got in really tight on the goalie, but just pulling that puck back and getting it upstairs. It's a high-end goal by him. He keeps impressing me, along with impressing everybody in the organization.

Impressive is an understatement, as not only did Knies build upon his 2023-24 season, but came out this year like a man possessed. In 74 games, Knies ended up with 58 points (29G, 29A) as well as 182 hits; he's a one of a kind player who is going to be a huge part of the Leafs going forward.
This postseason he's also been great, with three goals in four games while adding four blocks and seven hits; he's been a jack of all trades and one of the key contributors to the Maple Leafs' 3-1 lead.
It also gives Auston Matthews yet another assist, and while he's not scoring as much as fans hoped, he's still making an impact regardless.
