New league chatter suggests the Maple Leafs' trade window is moving up

Some new discussion around the NHL could lead to a Maple Leafs trade sooner or later as teams get themselves prepared for the Olympics in February.
Now that the NHL is back in the games, it makes things a little more difficult for teams given they need to balance their regular season schedule with not only a break, but also properly manage their players' workloads to keep them as healthy as possible.
But that timeframe is going to quickly approach, and as we reach the beginning of December -- things could start heating up according to Nick Kypreos.
What Nick Kypreos is actually hearing about pre-Christmas trades
Kypreos stated that he believes with that break coming up, teams are going to be working quickly to change their team if they're trying to and want to get things figured out by the holidays.
I do believe that with the Olympics, teams are starting to really dig down deep on changing the look of their team now even before Christmas, I think we're gonna see some moves before Christmas.
We have roughly two months until the break, and it'll only be a couple of weeks before the trade deadline.
With the Olympics potentially bringing injury risks, teams would like to add insurance or change things up sooner than later.
How an earlier trade window ramps up pressure on Brad Treliving
Well if there are teams who are looking to make a change, then Brad Treliving has to be proactive.
With a lack of premium assets, his pool is already thin and adding a frantic time limit to that won't help matters.
He can't juggle the lineup too much considering the team is only two months into the season and jeopardize any chemistry built up to this point.
The Maple Leafs need to improve in two areas -- puck moving on defense and adding more consistency top-six scoring.
Those are two areas that a lot of contenders are looking to improve on as well while also holding more enticing pieces.
This next stretch of games is going to be crucial for Treliving as he decides who to keep and who to potentially ship off.
Everyday players like Matias Maccelli, Max Domi, Calle Jarnkrok, and Philippe Myers could be in play, and their production will likely help determine their future with the team.
Toronto can't wait around for the trade deadline and hope for another last-minute deal like they had last year.
They need to improve now, and getting better in the short-term will also improve their long-term chances -- with the clock is ticking for Brad Treliving.
