Newest Maple Leaf forward Michael Pezzetta gushed about how happy he was signing with Toronto, and how motivated he is to find his way into the lineup.

The first signing for the Leafs in free agency was scooping up former Montreal Canadiens depth forward Michael Pezzetta and signing him to a two-year deal.
It wasn't the flashiest move the team could have made, though he is fairly solid on defense and is a menace when it comes to throwing hits and blocking shots; he puts his body on the line every night.

That sounds like a Craig Berube player if there ever as one, and while it might not be certain he makes it into the lineup, a strong camp will no doubt give him several looks.
Speaking to the media for the first time since signing with the team, he was nothing but excited to be a member of the Leafs, and admitted that putting pen to paper was something he could have only dreamed about:
How crazy is this?
Pezzetta grew up in Toronto and idolized the Maple Leafs, admitting that he had posters of icons like Mats Sundin and Curtis Joseph to inspire him to perhaps one day put on the blue and white himself.

But he also knows it's not going to be easy, and admitted that he's going to need to do whatever it takes to make the roster, and sounds motivated to get there come October:
It's not a given. I want to earn it. Do everything I can to be an 'X' factor.
While he doesn't spark the same excitement as Mitch Marner offensively, he does have a sneaky ability to shoot, and could be much like Steven Lorentz; a Toronto-born physical force with an offensive touch.
Surprisingly, Pezzetta is actually quite adept defensively and with the addition of his immense physical presence, will be quite frustrating to play against.
Though he went pointless last season, he does have 38 points but has a staggering 710 hits in 200 NHL games.
But for Pezzetta, this is a dream come true, and while nothing is guaranteed there is one thing he knows for sure:
I mean, it's the passion that unites us all.
