Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi's latest comments regarding playing in Toronto shows that perhaps Mitch Marner didn't have what it takes to stick around.

While the team has to deal with Mitch Marner's imminent departure, one person who isn't going to leave (at least for now) is Max Domi. Signed to a long-term deal, the veteran forward might not be as endearing as his father Tie, but he's given 110% every time he's out there.

Max Domi thrives on Toronto's pressure, unlike Mitch Marner

Though fans might not be too happy with his production over the last two seasons, it seems no one bleeds blue and white more than Domi, and his latest comments about playing in Toronto shows that whatever pressure people think there he; he hasn't felt it:
I absolutely love playing here. I love playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, there's nothing better. Pressure is a huge privilege and something that you dream of your whole life to be able to experience.

Is it easy? No, but nothing's easy, and hard things are what make it fun. - Max Domi

It's great to see Domi exude that passion that Craig Berube expresses admiration for (and is almost mandatory in order to play for him), and definitely seems motivated for whatever is to come next season; Marner or not.

Perhaps now that Marner is going to be out of the picture, Domi can potentially rekindle his chemistry with Auston Matthews and start to produce at a more consistent rate.
Not the greatest defensively and struggling offensively, Domi only had 33 points in 74 games (8G, 25A) although he does have the chops to score, having hit 20 goals twice before, and is more than capable of providing some decent playmaking to a healthy Auston Matthews.
There is one thing he does need to work on this summer and that's his defense, especially if he is going to be playing a more heightened role on the top line (barring Toronto signing any big names).
If he can work with Berube and new assistant coach Derek Lalonde, he could be in line for a big year.
He needs to have one too, but that's if he even lasts the summer. Being the subject of potential trade talks due to his contract, and Toronto wanting to open up cap and roster space, Domi might not find himself in blue and white next season if certain moves are to be made.
Though wherever he goes, Domi is looking to show the same amount of passion that he always has. It's something the fans can appreciate, because at least Domi has some loyalty left in his system.
