Matthew Knies drew the ire of his captain recently by telling the media he beat Auston Matthews in tennis. Matthews disagreed and now Knies has fired back.

The camaraderie between teammates in sports is nothing new. Countless times we see Gatorade baths, shaving cream pies to the face, loosening a water bottle lid so it dumps on someone; all in good fun. It shows the brotherhood and closeness of these athletes and how they grow during the time they consistently spend together as it evolves past just teammates.

But sometimes you can create a little bit of a comical rift. Matthew Knies did just that when he spoke to the media after training camp and mentioned 'smoking' captain Auston Matthews in tennis but the captain quickly fired back during his media time:

"He's never beat me in tennis. He literally walked in the gym and told me that he said that. I said, 'I can't believe you'd lie to the media like that. It's crazy,'" Matthews said on Friday.

"He's good, but we've been playing the last couple weeks and yeah, he just straight up lied to you guys. I don't know what else to say, but that's what it is."

It seems like Matthews was none too pleased with his teammate not only trying to have one up on him, but that he would so blatantly fib to the media about it. Well, Knies isn't having any of it now, bringing in the big guns in order to get to the bottom of this mysterious tennis result. Per David Alter of The Hockey News, Knies said:

"I don't know if it's a lie. I think me and Tone talked it over. I think we're going to get the Blueprint crew out in Muskoka or sometime soon. We'll let the video judge it."

This is some serious business for Knies, who clearly doesn't take too kindly for his captain calling him out. It looks like we'll be getting the video review of the match, though let's hope they aren't as bad as the NHL review judges have been throughout history.

While the mystery of the tennis match still looms overhead, and maybe we'll see a rematch in the future; the roasting between Auston Matthews and his linemate Knies just goes to show that the brotherly love is strong in the locker room, and hope that carries over into on-ice production.
