Maple Leafs vs. Senators Playoff Ticket Prices Skyrocket, Fans Stunned By Outrageous Costs
The Battle of Ontario is going to be a hard fought but exciting playoff series, but those who want to see it in person are going to need to fork out a lot of cash.
It's
never really a cheap endeavor when you head to an NHL game. Besides tickets, you have transportation, merchandise, game programs, hot dogs, beer, 50/50 tickets; once all is said and done you've found a nice hole burned into your pocket.
But that price brings a lot of memories and could create not only lifelong hockey fans, but perhaps get the future of the NHL started off right as young fans try to emulate and recreate the magic from their favorite players and teams.
Certainly a lot of memories are going to be had in the Battle of Ontario this season, not just for fans but also for a few players.
Though the ones taking the ice are getting paid handsomely, the ones spectating are going to have to pay a lot if they want to see it in person.
If you are a Senators fan, you're going to be paying anywhere from $350 to upwards of $1,300 for a lower level seat. While it's understandable that they want to make as much money as possible, it's easily double or sometimes triple the regular ticket price.
Yes, it's a premium game, and a premium series, but the fact the team is already preventing some from getting into the arena, that just means the resell value and scalping potential could raise those prices even further.
It seems like owner Michael Andlauer wants to make sure that Ottawa fans get their hands on tickets, and while he has the power to add more availability, he's eschewing that for a more biased fanbase.
A lot of people are also worried that those with Senators tickets will then resell to Maple Leafs fans and create an unfair advantage, even if they are going to make a profit.
It also seems that some fans who are trying to get tickets as Ottawa fans are also waiting quite a while for the chance to score a seat.
It really isn't much better in Toronto either, as the Scotiabank Arena is offering not only re-sell tickets but have a; no joke, 'Obstructed Viewing' seat for $345.50.
It just goes to show that regardless of where the teams are going to play, it's not only going to be an intense, but expensive series for fans looking to catch a glimpse in person.
Get your wallets ready, folks! The playoffs are just around the corner.
