Maple Leafs Starting Lineup for Game 1 vs. Panthers Revealed
It's going to be a 2023 rematch as the Maple Leaf take on the Panthers in the second round.
It's not going to be easy, and Craig Berube is going to need everyone to be at their best. He made a critical change in Game 6 with
Max Pacioretty that paid off in spades.
Craig Berube's Lineup For Game One vs. Florida
So with that being said, what will the lineup look like when they take the ice for Game One?
Well the same one we've seen pretty much the entire postseason, keeping with what got them to Round Two in the first place.
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Pacioretty - Tavares - Nylander
Domi - Holmberg - McMann
Lorentz - Laughton - Jarnkrok
Rielly - Carlo
McCabe - Tanev
Benoit - OEL
Stolarz
Woll
Craig Berube hasn't made any big changes, and with the stars picking things up last night at just the right time, hopefully that momentum carries over against Florida.
There's also a question of whether or not
Joseph Woll might get a start this series after
Anthony Stolarz backstopped the team for the first six games.
He's been great with a 4-2-0 record with a 2.21 GAA and a .901 SV%; numbers only marred by Ottawa's flurry of goals while being held to a minimal amount of shots.
But now we know that answer, as Stolarz once again
will get the call against his old team, a true test of his mental will, especially with a Panthers team who is going to show no mercy.
It's going to need to be more of the same from Game 6, and the team can't take any games for granted; there's only seven and there needs to be players like
Scott Laughton, who had potentially the biggest block of the series thus far, and showing why Toronto targeted him at the deadline.
They need everyone involved.
No big changes needed from Game 6, and Craig Berube's insistence on keeping things as they are has worked thus far for the Maple Leafs but he needs to keep an open mind when it comes to his lineup.
If people start to (or continue to) struggle then he needs to pull the plug ASAP.
There's only a handful of games to figure things out if they start to falter, and a huge factor in that is keeping disciplined and making sure their emotions are in check.
Then it should be a very close series between the two.
For now, all we can do is wait and see how things play out once they take the ice. Scotiabank Arena is going to be loud, raucous, and ready to cheer on their hometown team.
Let's give them something to cheer for boys.
