Max Domi was taken out of the Maple Leafs lineup against Washington and replaced with Matias Maccelli.

Friday afternoon's game against Washington will see the Maple Leafs have a bit of a different look with the news that William Nylander was not playing due to an illness.
Lines were previously set however a bit before game time we saw another change, as Max Domi was taken out with Matias Maccelli replacing him.

What we actually know right now about Max Domi being held out

Domi was not on the ice for warmups according to TSN's Mark Masters:
There is no word on why Domi was scratched, and the team has not confirmed an injury at this time.
It might be good to give Domi a break as he has struggled heavily this season and there was some discussion about him being a proper fit for the team going forward.
That seems to be the situation according to Craig Berube, who told reporters why he decided to sit Domi:
It's just getting engaged more in the game. He's got to get dirty down low in the O-zone, win battles, and get more engaged that way. And get to the inside of the ice more.... When he's skating and moving, he's an effective player. But it's too inconsistent.
Domi has been inconsistent to say the least, with only two points in his last 11 games.
Fans might not be too happy knowing that Maccelli -- another struggling player -- has entered in the lineup but with such a last minute adjustment, there was no chance for a call-up or anything of that nature.

How Matias Maccelli's late addition tweaks the lineup tonight

Maccelli coming into the lineup will shuffle things up a bit, as he will line up alongside Dakota Joshua and Nicholas Roy, meanwhile Domi -- who was scheduled to be on the second line -- was replaced by Bobby McMann alongside Easton Cowan and John Tavares.
It gives the third line roughly the same amount of playmaking as Domi albeit with a little bit more speed. It will be interesting to see how the trio connect given that all three were brought in this summer and a lot of discussion centred around them lining up together.
Hopefully Maccelli will be able to start producing, and getting a chance to slide back into the lineup gives him the opportunity to take Domi's spot if he has a solid game.
