The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly looking at ways to improve their top-six, with one particular target being Seattle's Mason Marchment.

As the Maple Leafs continue to find ways to improve their lineup, they are circling back on player they not only tried to acquire earlier on, but one they already had on their roster.
Mason Marchment's name keeps popping up in trade speculation regarding the Maple Leafs, and would love to bring him back to solidify their lineup, and according to a new report; they have the pieces to do it.

Toronto has interest in Mason Marchment, could deal from bevy of forwards

A new article from The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta went through a variety of league-wide topics, and the Maple Leafs' search for a top-six forward found its way in.
Pagnotta explained the Maple Leafs could circle back to Marchment, and the team could look to deal someone like Max Domi or Matias Maccelli in order to do so:
Toronto continues to look for a top-six addition; along with half the league - and in addition to Max Domi, whose name is still floating out there, Mattias Maccelli is also available.

One target may be Seattle winger Mason Marchment, who Leafs GM Brad Treliving tried to land in June before he was dealt to the Kraken.

Marchment, 28, was dealt to the Kraken from Dallas in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick.
This season, Marchment has 13 points in 27 games for the Kraken (4 goals, 9 assists) with a minus-two rating, 35 hits and 20 PIM in 16:56 TOI.

Is Mason Marchment the answer for the Maple Leafs?

Well, considering they had him before, we may have already known that answer. But since we can only go off of his work elsewhere, let's take a look.
In 329 games, Marchment has 202 points (80 goals, 122 assists), a plus-62, and 500 hits, but what he offers on defense in addition to offense is where he can really help turn things around for Toronto.
Marchment can slide into the top line alongside Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies, but might be best suited to play on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander (when he comes back to the second).
That line needs some defensive help considering how lackadaisical Nylander can be, and adding Marchment would alleviate a lot of those issues, as he's willing to go into the dirtier areas that Nylander wouldn't.
He's not a perfect solution mind you, and the Maple Leafs need to have a solution on defense and in the crease too if they really want to make a push.
But adding Mason Marchment won't cost them their best assets, and give them a flexible piece in the lineup, two things Toronto needs if they are going to make moves.
