Toronto's David Kampf could be the perfect solution for New Jersey and former coach Sheldon Keefe as they are looking for a 4C in order to fill out their lineup.

With the Maple Leafs looking to make changes this season, they've done so already with a ton of new additions which are all part of a new look lineup expected to bring a lot of physicality and grittiness to an already tough lineup.

Kampf joins Keefe as Toronto sheds salary

But they still have some pieces who have to find their way out of the lineup, with one of them being David Kampf.
With the additions of Dakota Joshua and Michael Pezzetta, it seems there's no room for Kampf, especially with Scott Laughton and potentially Easton Cowan in the mix.
No doubt able to help a contender, one team who is looking for help in the bottom-six in the New Jersey Devils, and for some it seems like a reunion with former coach Sheldon Keefe is the perfect solution.
Keefe loved Kampf when he coached him in Toronto, and there's no doubt that he wants to add his defensive prowess and penalty killing in order to give them a chance in the Metropolitan Division.

No Kampf-ing allowed: Toronto needs to move on from fourth liner

There's a huge logjam down low for the Maple Leafs and Kampf clearly has no space. Taking on a depth player or a late pick wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, and we've seen what the team can acquire with minimal assets.
Making just over $2-million, Kampf would be one of the cheapest options available, and unless the Devils wanna grab Luke Kunin off the free agent market, they should look to the Leafs for help.
Kampf, 30, had 15 points in 59 games (5 goals, 8 assists) and is known for being a no-nonsense, smart player who can give a team a jolt defensively and chip in here and there with some offense.
He just doesn't fit in with the new gritty, physical-forward lineup and he needs to go as part of the new identity change that Brad Treliving wants to implement.
So cutting ties with Kampf and sending him to the Devils will only make Toronto's lineup configuration easier, but give Sheldon Keefe the 4C he needs to round out his everyday lineup.
It's about time a deal gets done anyways.
