NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported this evening that the Leafs and Tanev are closing in on finalizing a deal that will likely see him finish his career in Canada's largest city.
At this point, there are very few details about the deal. Weekes is reporting that the average-annual-value will be around 5 million dollars, but we do not know the term, or any other conditions of the deal. We do know though, that the deal cannot be more than 7 years long due to the rules of the NHL's CBA.
Previous reports suggested that Tanev was looking for a deal in the three to four year length, but the Leafs have reportedly explored doing a longer deal to lower the AAV. Be sure to stay tuned tonight and tomorrow morning as we learn the full details of this deal.
