Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews weren't happy with the officials on Sunday night, and some new video shows the captain and his sidekick giving them an earful.

While the team came away with the 3-2 victory against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night, there were several close calls that could have drastically turned the game from a solid victory to a solemn affair.
One of those incidents is when Mitch Marner seemingly batted a puck out of mid-air and it leading to an eventual Matthew Knies goal; or so we thought.
Marner's assist was called back due to high-sticking, and while the answer given to why isn't the easiest to swallow, the call remained.

Marner And Matthews Fiery Argument With Referee: Leaked Footage

But some leaked footage shows that both Marner and captain Auston Matthews didn't mind trying to argue their case, and at least gave the officials a piece of mind regarding the no goal.
While this has never been a solution, and much like umpires in baseball; the word is gospel and what they say sticks, regardless of opinion or whether it's actually correct or not.
But hand it to both men for trying, and while they didn't have a case to win, it shows the leadership the two have for not being afraid to argue and risk potential punishment (though they kept quiet post-game, so no fines there).
It didn't really affect the outcome of the game, and Toronto got the crucial two points they needed in order to stretch the gap between both Florida and Tampa Bay; both tied at 91 points, while the Maple Leafs have 94 with eight games left to play.
Marner added to his outstanding year with a goal, and while Matthews didn't find the scoresheet, he was a plus-one on the night.
He has 91 points in 73 games, and needs just over a point-per-game to finish the season with over 100.
Meanwhile, Matthews has missed some time with injury but together a respectable season with 68 points in 59 games though his goal output has drastically reduced.
While the game is done and dusted, and Toronto moves on to bigger opponents and a tough road ahead of them, one thing is for certain:
Both Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews are fighting until the bitter end.
