On Tuesday night, in a game against the New Jersey Devils, Matthews scored his 66th goal of the campaign, becoming the first to surpass Ovechkin's incredible accomplishment.
Matthews is definitely one of the best, if not the best, goal scorer of the salary cap era in the NHL. As he remains focused on reaching the 70-goal mark, all fans are hoping to see him score four more goals in the Leafs' four remaining games.
Even if teams usually try to rest players before the start of the playoffs, don't be surprised if Sheldon Keefe decides to send Matthews on the ice every night before the end of the season, to help him achieve what every hockey fan wants to see him do: get to 70 goals.
