Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving is working hard trying to get both Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf's contracts off the books according to NHL Insider James Mirtle.

As the days tick by before the July 1 free agency period, the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying their best to make sure they have all their issues accounted for and prioritized before a frantic time in the NHL.
A lot of that involves finding places for some long-time faces, or ones who dont necessarily fit within the team's current trajectory. There have been talks about contract buyouts, and potential trades when it comes to Max Domi, David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok.

It's the latter two who are drawing a lot of attention due to their fairly reasonable contracts and the fact they can be a solid bottom-six presence for several teams needing either a defensive specialist or a veteran leader for the third or fourth line.
James Mirtle revealed that it seems the Maple Leafs are working hard on finding potential buyers for both players, as he mentioned that the team has been actively shopping Kampf and Jarnkrok but haven't found any buyers.
It's not surprising to see Toronto at least dangle the two in deals, as they might not fit the mold that GM Brad Treliving wants now with his team.

Should Toronto trade Calle Jarnkrok or David Kampf?

Jarnkrok, 33, is one of the older players who is coming off sports hernia surgery and only played in 19 games this season for the Leafs. He was expected to be their 3C but injuries and coming back late in the year didn't lead to a lot of success.
He managed seven points (1G, 6A) in the regular season but was a non-factor in the playoffs, with one assist and a minus-4 rating in 12 games.
One potential positive that Janrkrok brings is that he'll be dirt-cheap come July 1 after his bonus is paid out, and paying him the league minimum for a reliable (when healthy) bottom-six center is a small ask.
Kampf, 30, is much more of a defensive specialist and he has a bit more youth compared to Jarnkrok.
Known as a penalty killing machine, Kampf would provide a team with a consistent presence on the fourth line who has offensive capabilities but hasn't shown them since coming to Toronto.
This past season he managed 13 points in 59 games (5G, 8A) and will be owed just shy of over $1.7-million after signing his bonus.
Toronto is trying to add some new life to their roster, with an emphasis on size, grit, and passion.
For as good Jarnkrok and Kampf were, they don't fit in anymore, and the Maple Leafs need to make way for players who are going to make a difference next season.
