In a new interview, he talked about his feelings about playing so much early in the season.
"It's been great. It helps you to really settle in and find your game, especially in this league and there's a lot of games that happen quickly and I've been very happy to get in the net as much as I have. Each time I'm trying to do the best I can and help the team win."
Woll has been on fire to start the year with a 1.89 goals-against average and a 0.942 save percentage. His partner
Ilya Samsonov has struggled with a 3.99 goals against average and a 0.841 save percentage.
The start for both players has created a ton of controversy over who the starter is.
Woll Comments On Goalie Controversy
In the same interview, Joseph Woll was given an opportunity to comment on the perceived controversy. He maintains that the two are a duo and work together well. He also says he has learned a lot being around Samsonov.
"I think the biggest thing is that we're a duo. We're a partnership and the goal is to help the team win and I think it's been awesome to be able to work with him and learn from him over the last year. I hope just like me, he takes as much pride and joy in my success as I take in his."
While Woll might not feel the pressure of a competition Ilya Samsonov might with his poor start. As the season continues eyes will be firmly planted on the net to see if Woll continues to dominate or if Samsonov can take control off the net back.
