According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun in his latest article for The Athletic, free agent forward Jack Roslovic reportedly turned down an offer from Edmonton.

The saga of Jack Roslovic this summer has been one of several twists, turns and hearsay that's for sure. Expected to be scooped up fairly quickly, he remained on the market for months amidst interest from both NHL and KHL teams.
Well, it's now three weeks into September and still no signing for the former Hurricanes forward, and it's starting to get pretty confusing as to why we've essentially heard nothing in terms of progress recently.

Jack Roslovic May Have Plan In Mind After Latest Insider Report

Pierre LeBrun has come to the rescue though with at least a bit of clarity on the Roslovic situation and mentioned that he may already have his mind set after turning down an offer from the Edmonton Oilers:
I do believe there was an offer from the Edmonton Oilers at some point, but Roslovic...turned it down

Edmonton could certainly use someone like Roslovic as they lost Connor Brown in free agency and the need for secondary scoring can only help strengthen Connor McDavid's reasoning to stay with the Oilers.

Toronto May Have Deal In Place With Roslovic Already

If Roslovic is turning down offers from a team who just made the Stanley Cup Finals two years in a row, that could be a sign that he has a handshake deal with the Maple Leafs already.
It's no surprise the two have been intrinsically linked together since the beginning of the offseason, and it feels like a very similar situation to Max Pacioretty last year where he was essentially signed to a PTO as a formality before signing a real deal.
That could be the case with Roslovic, and with Toronto's preseason games kicking off this weekend, if he is going to make a decision he should get as many reps as possible especially with such an intense and competitive training camp
The one issue could be the cap problem holding Toronto up, however there are ways they can open up room and a roster spot such as waiving David Kampf or Calle Jarnkrok.
So while we still wait and see what happens with Roslovic, the fact that he turned down a very enticing situation with a chance to play himself into a lucrative deal is crazy.
And crazy good news for the Maple Leafs.
