Jack Eichel Publicly Backs Mitch Marner's Decision to Leave Maple Leafs for Golden Knights
Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel threw his support behind new teammate Mitch Marner and his decision to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer in his most recent interview.
With the trade between Vegas and Toronto, the saga of Mitch Marner is over after nine seasons. Filled with tons of regular season success, he decided that heading to Sin City was the best choice for his career, though thankfully he helped Toronto on his way out.
Jack Eichel knows what it's like to leave for greener pastures
So now that he's focused on Vegas, Toronto needs to adjust to life without him, and though it won't be easy; it still might end up working out. But for his new teammate Jack Eichel, he's glad that Marner decided to head out.
Speaking to The Hockey News, Eichel explained that Marner's situation paralleled that of his situation in Buffalo when he decided he wanted out too:
Having went through the situation of leaving an organization in the city and having a fresh start in Vegas, I think I can relate, to a point, to some of the things he's going through.
I think he's obviously had his own situation, and however that ended, I'm sure he's super excited to have a fresh start and be in a place like Vegas, and I know he'll excel. I'm looking forward to continuing to get to know him and then getting the opportunity to play with him.

Mitch and Jack: The hottest thing in Sin City
While it's not guaranteed that Marner and Eichel will play together, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy was clear that he'll at least give the two a chance to work together and find some potential magic:
There needs to be chemistry, first of all and there might be some automatically, and there might be none, you never know.
They're going to get an opportunity at some point, whether it's early on or later, to play together. Because you want to see what it looks like.

Early on might end up giving the most amount of excitement and drama, considering that Cassidy also let slip that the Golden Knights and Maple Leafs were set to square off in the early days of the season.
We know the animosity will be there, and as much as you may dislike Marner for his attitude and antics towards the end of his career in Toronto, he and Eichel together will be incredible.
Things are looking like a surefire bet out there in Vegas, and Eichel is hoping that Marner's addition can bring them yet another jackpot in the form of Lord Stanley's Cup.
