Since it was announced that Brad Treliving will become the new Leafs GM, there has been much speculation on what will happen to the core four.
In Calgary, Treliving was burned by two superstars with Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau both leaving in the same summer.
Treliving wants to avoid a 2022 Calgary summer-type offseason in Toronto so he will have to look into trading a member of the core four if necessary.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman went onto the Jeff Marek Show and shared what should happen with Marner.
Friedman stated that the Leafs have full confidence and belief in Marner to be a great player for them.
This should assure fans that he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
In addition to the Leafs' belief in Marner, he is also signed for the next two seasons which gives him more contract stability than Auston Matthews or William Nylander whose deals both end next summer.
