Harry Nansi's latest development gives the Maple Leafs a prospect profile they rarely have

Harry Nansi was a fifth-round draft pick for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2025, and he is already proving himself to be a value pick with a whole lot of potential.

The former 153rd overall pick stands at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds. He has grown an inch and has put on 20 pounds since the Summer the Leafs drafted him.

Last season with the Owen Sound Attack, he took a massive leap, going from 23 points the year before to 56 points this past season. A campaign that included 13 goals and 43 assists.

Nansi's 43 assists reveal a different prospect than his 13-goal total suggests

At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, you would expect Nansi to occupy a power forward role. A role in which he throws the body around and gets plenty of goals, but not a ton of assists.

However, Nansi's 43 assists last season tell a different story. It demonstrates that the real story surrounding Nansi is his ability to distribute the puck and process plays. The kid has a real eye for the ice, and it has allowed his teammates to thrive.

For the Maple Leafs, Nansi occupies a truly unique space within the organization. He provides them with the size they need, but he also has playmaking abilities that can enhance the guys around him.

Nansi may have the profile of a power forward, but he plays the game with the kind of finesse that teams dream about.

Nansi's next test is whether his playmaking survives when the game gets faster

The big challenge for Nansi is going to be whether or not his size can translate to the professional game. Against people his age, that size acts as a major advantage.

However, the NHL, and even the AHL, is a whole lot faster. Guys are quicker, and they process plays at an advanced rate. That said, Nansi is going to have to figure out how to make his size functional.

The question he and the Leafs will be asking is: can improved skating allow him to keep the puck protection, patience, and passing skills that have served him so well in Junior?

Plenty of guys in Junior are big. However, the ones who stick around are the ones who can still be fast at the same time.
