Jack Roslovic is finally a Toronto Maple Leaf after a lot of speculation over the last year or so, inking a two-year, $8-million deal as free agency opened up.
The Toronto Maple Leafs added some more firepower to their lineup on the first day of free agency, as they signed Jack Roslovic to a two-yer, $8-million dollar deal to bring the American forward aboard and play with his longtime friend Auston Matthews:
-
Roslovic, 29, had 21 goals and 36 points in 69 games for the Oilers last season and has back-to-back 20-goal seasons who can add some help to the middle-six either as a winger or in the bottom-six as a centre. He's versatile and clearly has the offensive chops to be a great asset.
But it's certainly a move to appease Auston Matthews, as the two are close friends and played together when they were part of the U.S. National Development Team Program with Matthews and Roslovic being 1-2 in scoring.
He was linked to the Maple Leafs last season but ended up signing a one-year deal in Edmonton for $1.5-million. He got a bit of a pay increase after yet another strong season, and it's a low-cost signing for Toronto especially given his track record and familiarity with Matthews.
More details to come.
Is Jack Roslovic a good signing for the Maple Leafs?
