Former Toronto Marlies forward Wade MacLeod has passed away at the age of 38 following a battle with brain cancer.

Wade MacLeod, a minor league journeyman who spent years in the AHL as well as Europe, passed away following a public brain cancer fight, having passed away Wednesday.
MacLeod had fought a six-year war with cancer back in 2013, which was able to be removed but later returned in 2023, diagnosed with Stage 4 gliobastoma.

Remembering Wade MacLeod's Time in the Maple Leafs Organization

Wade MacLeod played his junior hockey in British Columbia, being a top forward in the BCHL before playing four years in the NCAA with Northeastern University, where he'd be coached by future Anaheim Ducks head coach Craig Cronin.
A top offensive producer for Northeastern, MacLeod signed with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL. He would sign a one-year deal with the Toronto Marlies in 2013, where he'd play 34 games.
MacLeod did not appear in any NHL games. After a stint in the ECHL, MacLeod went to Europe, playing in Germany, England, & Norway before retiring in June 2022.
Surgeries for his cancer caused MacLeod to miss extended periods of time and took him away from hockey, but he was able to eventually return to finish out his career in Europe.
Wade MacLeod was a husband to his wife Karly, the pair having two daughters.
According to the GoFundMe page set up in his honor, MacLeod worked in life insurance after his playing career.
The Manchester Storm put out a statement commemorating MacLeod, calling him a "true warrior".
Northeastern University, MacLeod's alma matter, also put out a statement expressing their condolences to his family.
