Former Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators forward Noah Gregor signed a deal with the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers after a solid tryout at training camp.
With a list of injuries already this season, the Florida Panthers ensured they had some much needed depth by signing former Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators forward Noah Gregor to a one-year, two-way deal.
Gregor signed a PTO agreement with the Panthers earlier this summer and translated a strong preseason into a contract with the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.
Last season, Gregor had seven points in 52 games (4 goals, 3 assists) splitting time with both the Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks. He has 70 points in 293 games with Toronto, Ottawa and San Jose (36 goals, 34 assists).
The 27-year old had 12 points in 63 games (6 goals, 6 assists) for the Maple Leafs in 2023-24.
Why Noah Gregor's Move to the Panthers Could Sting the Maple Leafs Later This Season
Considering that Gregor has only played four games against the team, he hasn't torched them that badly with only one assist, however his 63 games experience in the system might give him a little insider knowledge.
Granted, he was coached under Sheldon Keefe and now Craig Berube is in charge, but he still knows how guys like
Auston Matthews,
William Nylander, and
John Tavares operate so if there are any weaknesses; he could give some intel.
Florida needed Gregor to come in and have a strong preseason in order to give them a fighting chance, which is rough news for Toronto.
They are known for getting the most out of the smallest roles, and Gregor is a player who loves to be physical and play gritty, and if he can thrive under Paul Maurice, we could see some untapped offensive potential unlocked.
