Encouraging Sign Emerges at Maple Leafs Practice Ahead of Game 2 vs. Senators
The Maple Leafs can let out a big sigh of relief with regards to Anthony Stolarz has he was seen on the ice ahead of Game Two after missing practice on Monday.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs set to do battle in Game Two of the Battle of Ontario, things will be no less heated, and there may be even more physicality than the previous game. Some Senators
may have a target on their back and will have to be careful about how they play, lest they draw the ire of the Leafs.
However, things were a bit worrisome when Anthony Stolarz missed practice on Monday only a day removed from a tough game where he got his legs taken out from him by
Ridly Greig. The team says he was just resting, which seemed positive, but we never know.
Well, it seemingly all just was to give him some time to breathe, as the goalie was seen on the ice ahead of Game Two.
Not only are the Maple Leafs relieved to have Stolarz back in net, but so will fans with the concerns around
Joseph Woll.
While Woll himself isn't necessarily a bad choice, it is more or less that Stolarz has been so good it's hard to justify taking him out. He was stellar the last month of the season, then did a solid job at making sure Ottawa didn't do much in close either.
If Stolarz wasn't ready to play, that could have been a bad omen for the team going forward, as a 'day-to-day' diagnosis for a potential injury definitely has a worse connotation that one would think.
Stolarz so far in the playoffs is 1-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .939 SV%.
We'll know more after practice concludes and we see where Craig Berube and everyone stands in regards to Stolarz.
But all signs point to him starting, and that spells bad news for the Senators heading into Game Two.
