Elliotte Friedman joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill on the Leafs Morning Take Podcast this morning, and touched on the future of Auston Matthews:
"I'm not convinced Matthews signs by Saturday but everyone here is convinced he will sign. The Leafs have an idea of what the number is and what it's going to be. I think it's going to be 4-5 years. I think the number comes in around $13M,"

Reports say that extending Matthews is Brad Treliving's top priority and can happen as soon as July 1st hits. It is very likely that we see Auston Matthews become the highest paid player in the league.
