Elliotte Friedman Hints Maple Leafs Aren't Done Yet - More Big Moves Could Be Coming

The Toronto Maple Leafs are apparently still ready to make some more moves even after re-signing Nick Robertson according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
It was a deal that some believe was a bit of an overpayment and certainly feels like Robertson is betting on himself this season and Toronto is certainly hoping he does given the pay increase.
Maple Leafs Not Done Even After Nick Robertson Signing
However, the team is far from done and there are still some pieces that can be moved or brought aboard in order to shore up some minor holes.
According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs aren't exactly finished even with the minimal cap space:
I definitely think the Maple Leafs have their work to do here and I don't know what their timeline is but nobody expects them not to do things before the puck drops that's for sure.
It makes perfect sense considering that Robertson really isn't a top-six option and unless he comes out of the gates firing, he is more than likely going to sit in the bottom-six for the year (unless scratched which is a distinct possibility).
The fact that the Maple Leafs still haven't made a big move even with the pieces they have is a bit startling and while patience is a virtue, the fans are getting a bit weary. Does the team have enough to survive this season? Sure, but adding extra help is never a bad idea.
Who Can Toronto Target And Who Can They Part With?
Toronto certainly has options, and there's still the whole
David Kampf and
Calle Jarnkrok situation where either man could end up being on the opening night roster even if they really shouldn't be given the added depth and new-look lineup that Brad Treliving wants to trot out.
With time only getting shorter and shorter to get a deal done, the onus is now going to be on Treliving to work extra hard at making sure the team is well prepared. He did a great job adding depth, but that can only get you so far at times.
Nick Robertson was an important piece of the puzzle, but he isn't the last one and it's only a matter of time before we see if the Maple Leafs end up finding it or not.
