Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is using last year's Memorial Cup loss as motivation to get it done this time around.

With the London Knights fighting for their second Memorial Cup, Easton Cowan is looking to redeem last year's heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Saginaw Spirit, and has a chance to cap off a stellar junior career.

Easton Cowan's incredible London Knights career

In his last season with the Knights, Cowan has picked up right where he left off last year. This postseason, he has 39 points in only 17 games (13G, 26A) and has a total of 94 points over the last three playoffs (32G, 62A).
That is coupled with his 218 regular season points (83G, 135A) in 168 games; you'd be hard pressed to find a more dynamic forward over the last few seasons, especially coming from such a late round pick.
He's won championships, he's won the league's MVP, he won playoff MVP, and all he needs is a Memorial Cup to seal it off; he also leads the tournament with six points.
You also have to give credit to Mark Hunter and the Knights as a whole; they are one of the most dominant junior teams in recent memory, and if he's going to potentially be a part of the Maple Leafs staff, then who better to help Cowan's transition.

Will Easton Cowan make the Maple Leafs roster?

There are no guarantees of course, but if the young prospect can come into training camp and put on a solid showing, there is a strong chance that he could see the ice come 2025-26.
While he wouldn't be a top-line force, putting him on the third or fourth line; perhaps with a re-signed John Tavares patrolling the middle, might end up creating a little bit of magic.
Toronto's DNA is changing according to GM Brad Treliving, and what better way to infuse your team with something different than to give your top prospect a chance?
We saw they have no issues bringing in young players like Jacob Quillan, and we also saw Fraser Minten and Nikita Grebenkin make their NHL debuts with the club and stay for more than a game or two; both men were traded at the deadline.
If Craig Berube likes what Cowan offers to the team, be it the offensive wizardry or the passion and grit he appreciates so much, then it wouldn't be surprising to at least see him get a look, and they might be willing to burn a year off his deal in order to get him there.
But even if he ends up with the Marlies for the time being, you can't deny that Easton Cowan can walk away from the London Knights as one of their most dynamic and awe-inspiring players; but he'd love to end things with a Cup.
