Easton Cowan may just be starting his NHL journey but he's already got some esteemed pedigree as he had his Memorial Cup jersey on display at the Hall of Fame.
It won't be long before Easton Cowan makes his way onto the Toronto Maple Leafs, but for now, he's fighting hard for a spot in training camp and so far has put in a very impressive effort that's
earning praise from both his head coach and captain.
Already with a serious laundry list of accolades and personal accomplishments, there isn't much more for Cowan to do but to carve out himself a strong NHL career and perhaps find himself enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The Unexpected Way Easton Cowan Found Out About His Hall of Fame Display
Although, he hasn't even needed to play a game in order to get in, as he was part of an exhibit which focuses on players' rise to the top and Cowan's Memorial Cup game-worn jersey and stick were on display front and center:
Cowan was blown away by the recognition, and was completely unaware before one of his friends informed him of the exhibit:
I didn't know and then one of my buddies was in Toronto and sent me a picture. I was like, 'Oh, that's pretty cool. I'll take it'.
While it certainly caught him off guard, he was very appreciative of being honored in the Hall of Fame amongst all the legends and icons of the game:
Definitely special to see my jersey in there.
Getting told that you have been recognized by such a prestigious organization via text message is a little underwhelming to some but Cowan has been so busy with training camp and making the Maple Leafs it's fair that he would be unaware.
Why This Recognition Could Mean Even More for Cowan's Future With the Maple Leafs
It's certainly a huge accomplishment for Cowan to already be recognized as a potential star of the future, and there's very little to show that he can't become one.
He's an offensive dynamo who balances flair and finesse with a gruelling physical and tenacious game that lends itself well to head coach Craig Berube.
It's rare you find a player who can put up 96 points but also 64 PIM and get into fights when needed. Cowan was a leader in all facets and it helped London big time.
Just adding to his list of personal accolades, which are starting to feel like video game numbers:
1x OHL MVP
1x OHL Playoff MVP
2x OHL Champion
1x Memorial Cup Champion
1x CHL First Team All-Star
1x CHL Third Team All-Star
1x OHL First Team All-Star
1x OHL Second Team All-Star
1x OHL All-Second Rookie Team
It's hard to argue that Cowan doesn't deserve his spot as a featured player in the Hall's showcase of future stars.
His accomplishments in the OHL speak for themselves, and he's already making a name for himself with the Maple Leafs.
