Although Easton Cowan has been brought up to the Toronto Maple Leafs, it appears that his NHL debut against Montreal is going to be put on hold for the time being.

It was announced early on Wednesday morning that the Toronto Maple Leafs had demoted Jacob Quillan to the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and recalled top prospect Easton Cowan as it looks like he was set to make his NHL debut.
However, it seems like that is going to be put on pause for the time being, as Cowan was seen skating after practice along with Philippe Myers and Sammy Blais, which indicates those three are going to be scratched tonight:
It's a little unfortunate for both Cowan, who surely is looking forward to getting his feet wet at the NHL level, and for fans who are awaiting the arrival of the highly touted prospect and can't wait to see what he has to offer.
Cowan had a solid preseason, playing in all five games, scoring two points and finding a lot of chemistry on the fourth line with Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz.
Craig Berube revealed that while Cowan wasn't part of things on Wednesday night, he's part of the team and his time will come:
He's up here with us, we're happy about that. He's here.
Cowan will end up playing eventually, and there's a lot riding on certain players' debut on Wednesday that could factor into things. If Calle Jarnkrok is slow to get started or ends up being an issue then Cowan can slide in for him.
That would give him his old partner in Lorentz, and for the time being Nic Roy; a very capable playmaker and defensive center who could be a great mentor for the young Cowan.
However the Maple Leafs decide to work with Easton Cowan, the fact of the matter is that he's a part of the roster one way or another and it'll be exciting to see what he brings to this new-look lineup.
