Don't Miss It: Where to Watch the Maple Leafs Prospect Tournament Live

There's a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs' Prospect Showcase that takes place this weekend. Names like Easton Cowan, Ben Danford and more are all going to be in the spotlight to show what the future of the team might look like.

It's only a two-game slate but that's more than enough time for John Gruden, Craig Berube and Brad Treliving to get a good idea of who is going to make the leap forward and who might take a bit more time.

But the question of how to actually watch the tournament became a quick concern. It's not your typical broadcast, however the Maple Leafs have their fans covered.

According to Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun, later confirmed by the team on social media; fans will be able to catch the action on Toronto's social media channels as well as French broadcasting station RDS.

The team later posted on their own page regarding the two-game schedule and informed fans that the streams will be available on game day closer to the start time.

The first game is going to take place against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday at 1pm, followed by the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday at 3pm; so you'll need to book off some early afternoon time if you want to watch (and decide between potentially hockey or football).

There's a lot of excitement about several players but none more so than Easton Cowan. The top prospect in the Leafs system has a legitimate shot at making the team out of camp and a strong performance in the Showcase is only going to bolster that potential.

While Craig Berube isn't going to be coaching, it will be Marlies head coach John Gruden taking the reins as he sees who he is going to work with this season, and will have a better chance to see names like Noah Chadwick, Matthew Barbolini and Luke Haymes in action; almost assuredly part of the Marlies next year.

So while it's not exactly NHL hockey yet, it's a sign that the season is just around the corner and even if it's only for a couple of days: Fans can scratch their itch until the preseason comes around.
