Earlier this week, the Maple Leafs' star Mitch Marner met with his new head coach, Craig Berube, for a cup of coffee. A picture of them leaked on social media and went viral.
Fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs loved to see their new coach meet with Marner, who struggled in the playoffs and whose future in Toronto is uncertain. This shows that Berube took the time to start their relationship on the right foot, even if he could end up not coaching him.
That's where David Perron comes in. On a podcast, Perron, who played many years under Berube and won a Stanley Cup with him, confirmed that Berube takes his personal relations with players seriously. He did it in St. Louis, and plans on doing the same thing in Toronto.
