Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is updating the League on the condition of assistant captain John Tavares, who was hurt in last night's loss to the Senators.

The Toronto Maple Leafs didn't get the result that they wanted in last night's game against the divisional foe Ottawa Senators, missing out on their chance to punch their tickets to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Maple Leafs lost 4-3 in overtime at Canadian Tire Centre, ensuring that they'll have to play at least one more game in the series as they now have a 3-1 lead with the chance to advance in Game 5 Tuesday night.
An incident took place in overtime that saw assistant captain John Tavares injured after taking what appeared to be an elbow to the face from Ottawa's Artem Zub during what was a lengthy power play chance for the Leafs.
He appeared dazed and fell to the ice for several moments before slowly making his way back to his skates.
Tavares then went to the dressing room briefly before eventually returning to both the bench and the ice.

John Tavares Is Going To Be A-OK: Craig Berube

A huge reason why Toronto went up 3-0 in the series, Tavares has five points so far (3G, 2A) and is continuing his remarkable season after so much doubt and speculation about his presumed production this year.
Following the loss, coach Craig Berube provided a more optimistic update on Tavares' condition, saying that there wasn't any concern about his availability for Tuesday's Game 5.
I don't think there is any concern. He had to go off. At the time, we had a power play, and he was not out there. But it is what it is.

As far as what Berube felt was the difference in the game, he pointed to the fact Toronto wasn't able to convert on their 4-minute power play in overtime shortly before the Senators scored the OT deciding goal.
Special teams. We gave up a power-play goal for them and a shortie against our power play. We had our opportunities with the four-minute power play in the overtime. We couldn't get it done.

It was a huge relief that Tavares ended up returning and while it's admirable that he showed back up even though the Leafs fell in OT, it's still concerning that he didn't make his return until halfway through and his absence was felt during that aforementioned double-minor advantage.
For the Maple Leafs and Tavares, they will get another chance to close things out when they head back home for Game 5 on Tuesday night.
