Former NHL goaltender and Montreal Canadiens icon Carey Price took a shot towards his former heated rivals after their Game 7 loss to the Panthers.

It's hard to argue that there are much bigger rivalries in professional sports than the one between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. Over a century old, it's always a heated battle between the two most accomplished teams in NHL history.
For Carey Price, he understands how deep that rivalry runs and while he isn't playing for the team anymore (though under contract), he still harbors some resentment.

Carey Price Revels In Toronto's Failures; But Gives Them Their Flowers

Appearing at a charity event recently, Price rallied the crowd when he mentioned how much he enjoyed the Maple Leafs' failed quest for the Cup:
Nobody likes to see the Maple Leafs lose more than me.

While gaining a roaring applause from those in attendance, Price was kind enough to give them some credit however:
Being able to push a series to seven games against a team of the Panthers' caliber is good.
We can look at Price as bitter a tad, him giving the Maple Leafs their flowers does give some indication that there's at the very least some mutual respect.

Carey Price's Dominance Over Toronto And NHL Deserves Recognition Too

But as much as Price was a nemesis for the Maple Leafs for years, you can't deny he has been one of the greatest to ever do it.
Starting with just his stats against Toronto, he's a career 27-17-5 with a 2.69 GAA and .914 SV% with four shutouts, though he pretty much dominated the entire division.
Now looking at his career, you can see why Price deserves not only his flowers, but a whole bouquet.
He's posted a 361-261-79 record with 49 shutouts to go along with a 2.51 GAA and .917 SV%, won the Hart, Vezina, Jennings, and Pearson award in 2014-15, one of the best seasons in recent memory.
Price registered a 44-16-6 record with a dazzling 1.96 GAA and .933 SV%. Those are video game numbers, and deservedly put Price as the greatest goaltender in the world at the time.
But injuries derailed his career, and coupled with a stint with the NHL's Player Assistance Program, things were on the downswing.
He tried to get back into things, but his lingering knee issues has caused him to quietly retire; though not formally yet he admitted he is never going to play again.
So while Price can't be on the ice to stymie and frustrate the Maple Leafs anymore, he can sit back and enjoy their frustrations knowing that other teams are well prepared to do his job for him.
