Before head coach Craig Berube and longtime President of Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan worked together for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they were engaged in epic fights on the ice.

Shanahan was asked by Mark Masters about his memories of mixing it up with Berube and both men had a good laugh about it.

One thing becomes clear in this video, what happens on the ice stays on the ice too.

It's nice to hear a couple of former players taking questions about their physical past with a light heart, but it will likely spill into how they operate in their current jobs.

Some players in the locker room have to know their time being a softer player is over.

Berube and Shanahan are likely to team up and bring this no-nonsense attitude to the entire team and the Maple Leafs will likely have a new identity.

The 2019 Stanley Cup Champion Berube wanted the job, the team now has to rally around their new coach and play for him. Berube will battle for his guys, but his guys have to battle for him.

If there's anything Shanahan doesn't want the players to see, it's likely this video of Berube giving him a beating back in the day. If they see it, let's hope they take notes and play that tough style of hockey.
