The Toronto Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan blamed someone in particular for the team's first-round elimination in his end-of-season interview.

Earlier today, Shanahan, Treliving and Pelley all faced the music for their tough elimination at the hands of the Boston Bruins. After firing Sheldon Keefe and deciding to keep Shanahan, fans felt like they needed some explanations, which they provided.

Shanahan did what he had to do, taking the blame. Here's what he said:

"The ultimate responsibility is on me. The accountability is on me. Our playoff results have not been good enough. That's on me."

In what truly looks like his last shot with the Maple Leafs, he seemed open to make any changes that'll help the team. They will consider everything this summer and we should see some big changes once again.

Per Luke Fox:

"We will look at everything this summer, and we will consider everything this summer." —Brendan Shanahan

(That's a first, a new tone.)"

Sheldon Keefe won one playoff round in five years and got fired. Shanahan won the same number of rounds in 10 years. It's hard to justify Keefe's firing and the decision to keep Shanahan. He does look like he could still turn things around in Toronto, and that's what believes Pelley and the MLSE.
