Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving could add the offensive punch he desires and do it pretty cheaply considering that Victor Olofsson is still available as a free agent and according to The Daily Faceoff; it's a serious bargain.

With July winding down and August upon us, it's only going to be a matter of time before we enter the preseason and see what potential lineups are in store, and what potential surprises make the team at the last minute.
For the Maple Leafs, they need to make a trade or sign some type of free agent and for Brad Treliving, he certainly has his options but with a dwindling cap, a bloated roster and a need to bring in some more scoring; the task is anything but an easy one.

Victor Olofsson makes perfect sense for the Maple Leafs

One name that's also kicking about still is Victor Olofsson, who had a rough season with the Golden Knights but is looking to bounce back in a big way. He would be perfect for Toronto's top-nine, and could offer the team yet another sneaky offensive option.
If the Leafs wanted to do that, it might not even cost that much either. According to The Daily Faceoff, who listed the remaining free agents on the market, Olofsson's potential price is only $1.13-millon per season; a steal considering what you're getting.
Olofsson, 30, has three 20-goal seasons under his belt, including a surprising 28-goal outburst in 2022-23. He's quietly been quite the reliable player but was stuck on a middling Sabres team before heading to Vegas this season.
In his 370 career games, he's posted 211 points (105 goals, 106 assists) and only 44 PIM; he would help Toronto's discipline issues that's for sure. Plus, we've seen he can play well defensively and had a solid plus-17 with Vegas this year.

Olofsson instantly improves Toronto's top-six

That type of production would fit perfectly in the top-six, and the potential lineup with him looks quite respectable all things considered:
Knies - Matthews - Maccelli
Olofsson - Tavares - Nylander
Joshua - Roy - McMann
Lorentz - Laughton - Domi
You're adding a 20-goal scorer on a line with someone who has the potential to hit 30+ (Tavares) and flirt with 50+ (Nylander).
Toronto has yet to have someone who could really fit in on that line, as it's been a revolving door even though Tavares and Nylander are attached at the hip. Olofsson can provide that stability on the cheap; and the Swedish connection helps too.
So Brad Treliving has a lot to think about, but if he's pondering how to add offense on the cheap, look no further than Victor Olofsson.
