With nine picks in the NHL Draft, the Maple Leafs had a pretty solid haul of prospects, so let us take a look at who they drafted.
Toronto selected Gavin McKenna first overall but beyond that they also had a slew of other draft picks to try and add some potential diamonds in the rough, and they were pretty active on Saturday.
In addition to their eight picks, they also traded away their pick they received in the Samuel Ersson deal with Ottawa for another shot in the draft, then the 161st bringing their total to 10 picks altogether. That meant the prospect pipeline is getting a big overhaul and Toronto's selections didn't disappoint.
#1 Overall: Gavin McKenna
Age: 18
Position: LW
Hometown: Whitehorse, YK
Height: 5-foot-11.25 (Combine)
Weight: 170 pounds (Combine)
2025-26 Season: Penn State (35 GP, 51 points)
What's more to say? McKenna was the consensus top pick and is going to be a generational talent for years to come. His 310 points over his last three-and-a-half seasons is nothing short of remarkable, and he's going to bring in a lot of new eyes and the excitement back to Toronto hockey.
McKenna will likely play alongside Auston Matthews on the first line, though is more than willing to play alongside John Tavares and William Nylander so long as he's just getting in the thick of the action.
60th Overall: Alexander Bilecki
Age: 18
Position: D
Hometown: Mississauga, ON
Height: 6-foot-2 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 181 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Kitchener Rangers (66 GP, 29 points)
Bilecki was a strong choice at #60 for the Maple Leafs as they drafted a hometown kid with a winning pedigree and was instrumental in leading the Kitchener Rangers to the Memorial Cup this past season.
His 29 points in 66 games is pretty good for an 18-year old, and he's got the vision and speed to be able to play into the rush, and head back on defence if he gets caught. He's also got incredible swagger and mentioned that his winning mentality will only be a positive for the Maple Leafs going forward.
69th Overall: Ethan MacKenzie
Age: 19
Position: D
Hometown: West Kelowna, BC
Height: 6-foot-1 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 187 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Edmonton Oil Kings (59 GP, 58 points)
MacKenzie absolutely exploded this season for Edmonton and 22 of his 58 points were goals. That's a huge leap forward from previous years, and combined with an uber-aggressive and physical mentality - he could be a really sneaky add.
MacKenzie also has experience playing in the World Juniors for Team Canada alongside Gavin McKenna and Ben Danford, the latter of whom he was defensively paired with during the tournament. He's a two-way physical beast who has the potential to be a top-four defender.
73rd Overall: Zac Olsen
Age: 18
Position: C
Hometown: Calgary, AB
Height: 6-foot-1 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 203 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Saskatoon Blades (57 GP, 34 points)
Olsen was added to the roster as the 73rd pick, one that was acquired from St. Louis earlier in the day for Brandon Carlo. He's a big-bodied, crash-and-bang centre who uses blazing speed to cut through defences and also run head first into opponents.
He's not afraid to mix it up and he's reminiscent of a Bobby McMann-esque player who has great end to end speed and also provides a great physical punch. Olsen also played with Mackenzie and McKenna in the World Juniors, so it's clear Toronto is trying to add some chemistry right off the bat.
76th Overall: Mans Gudmundsson
Age: 18
Position: D
Hometown: Skovde, Sweden
Height: 6-foot-3 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 185 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Färjestad BK U20 (35 GP, 25 points)
The first Swede off the board for the Maple Leafs, Gudmundsson is a puck-moving defender who loves to pinch and be active in the play. There's a bit of reservations about his skating and ability to check back, but his fluidity and hands make up for it.
Not to mention, Gudmundsson also played for Team Sweden in the World Juniors, a team that won a gold medal and has some hockey in his blood, as his father Mattias has been a mainstay for Skovde's hockey team since 2009-2010.
85th Overall: Juuso Ainasto
Age: 18
Position: G
Hometown: Kerava, Finland
Height: 6-foot-4 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 198 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Jokerit U18/U20 (14 Wins)
The Maple Leafs have a knack for picking goalies at 85th overall as they also used that pick to select Mike Palmateer back in 1974. Now they are hoping that Ainasto can replicate that in the future. A bit of a wild-card pick, he's shown great strides and moves incredibly well for his size.
He's quick post-to-post but he also finds ways to disrupt opponents and use unique angles to cut things down and put pressure for them to make the perfect shot. He is a few years from being in the NHL but the tools are there - heck Artur Akhtyamov is now just blossoming and he was drafted in 2020.
114th Overall: Patriks Plumins
Age: 18
Position: G
Hometown: Talsi, Latvia
Height: 6-foot-3 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 216 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Zemgale (1.50 GAA, .927 SV%)
Plumins is a player who some will recognize as the goalie who put together an all-world performance in order to help Latvia win a silver medal at the World Juniors en route to an All-Star selection and award for Best Goaltender.
He's got incredible positioning, loves to cut the angles off at a moment's notice, he's quick to adapt under pressure and clearly he has the tools to keep calm, cool and collected when he's under immense pressure - much like Akhtyamov.
158th Overall: Cooper Williams
Age: 18
Position: C
Hometown: Calgary, AB
Height: 6-foot-1 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 163 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Saskatoon Blades (66 GP, 57 points)
No, we didn't repeat ourselves. Toronto drafted two centres from Saskatoon who both come from Calgary and had fantastic seasons in 2025-26. Williams is a player who is a two-way menace who loves to grind for pucks, fight along the boards and use his craftiness to snag the puck and find his teammates.
Williams is also remarkably consistent as he had back to back 57-point seasons while also staying steady with 20+ goals and 30+ assists. He wasn't skewed one way or another and he contributed at all ends of the ice. Though he may be 163 pounds, he doesn't play like his weight, and the familiarity with Olsen will carry into the future nicely.
161st Overall: Yaroslav Fedoseyev
Age: 18
Position: D
Hometown: Chelyabinsk, Russia
Height: 6-foot-1 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 187 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Traktor/Chelmet/Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk (58 GP, 20 points)
Toronto traded up to select Fedoseyev and instead of following their protocol of mobile, puck-moving defenders, they bring in someone who doesn't care about goals - just creating chaos. He loves to hit, he's mean, he'll fight you and it doesn't matter if you're 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-8; he wants to scrap.
This is a player who excels at the physical game and is someone who you need in the lineup going forward in order to instil fear into opponents. Brady and Matthew Tkachuk won't be too happy in a few years when Fedoseyev comes barrelling at them at full speed with no care in the world but we'll all be smiling ear to ear.
169th Overall: Brady Pepoy
Age: 18
Position: F
Hometown: Troy, MI
Height: 6-foot-2 (Elite Prospects)
Weight: 181 pounds (Elite Prospects)
2025-26 Season: Saginaw Spirit (67 GP, 29 points)
Pepoy isn't someone who is going to really jump into the lineup until a few years from now, but even if he makes it as a strong AHL player who gets the call from time to time, it's worth it. He's a tireless worker who is always going to give his all and loves to be proactive.
He's as creative as he is dedicated and even if a play breaks down he's fighting for the puck until the bitter end. There's a lot to love about his game and a commitment to Lindenwood University in the NCAA will only strengthen his game going forward.
Which prospect are you looking forward to most besides Gavin McKenna?
