Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is going to make some fans very excited as he will appear as part of the Hockey Night in Brampton event this summer.

With the NHL seasons still a bit of a ways away from starting, there's still stuff that players need to do in order to prepare for the season, but part of that also includes being the face of the team at certain events.
Not only is there an on-ice obligation for players, but off-ice and media appearances are crucial for keeping fans excited, and shows the humanity of pro athletes who are often looked at as larger than life.

Why Auston Matthews' Appearance at Hockey Night in Brampton Is a Big Deal

For the Maple Leafs, Auston Matthews is the face of the franchise and is no doubt the poster boy for all things Leafs and he's showing just how much love he has for the community as a whole.
It was announced by Mayor Patrick Brown that Matthews would be appearing as part of Hockey Night in Brampton, as part of their All-Star charity event.
Brown seems elated that the Maple Leafs captain is part of the festivities, and he will end up replacing Mitch Marner who appeared in last year's event alongside Max Domi.
The event is held to raise funds for a second hospital in Brampton and to help the William Osler Health System.

How This Charity Game Brings Leafs Fans Closer to Their Captain

A press release for the event is sure to get fans excited to see the Maple Leafs captain in action:
Toronto Maple Leafs Captain Auston Matthews has been named Team Captain for Mayor Patrick Brown's Hockey Night in Brampton 2025.

One of the NHL's brightest stars, Matthews will headline this year's charity hockey game, bringing elite talent and unmatched excitement as the city counts down to puck drop, in support of building Brampton's second hospital.

Matthews joins an already stacked and talented lineup that includes Owen Power, Ryan Getzlaf, Curtis Joseph, Mark Giordano, Taylor Raddysh, Darren Raddysh, Travis Barron, Phil Oreskovic, Blayre Turnbull, Renata Fast, Jeremy Roenick, Cody Hodgson, Terry Ryan, and Owen Nolan.
