What we know so far about Auston Matthews' exit
Matthews left the bench to go to the dressing room during the TV timeout reports The Hockey News' David Alter:
It is not determined yet as to what the issue could be, and Matthews will continue to be evaluated during the game.
Goaltender Anthony Stolarz was also not seen on the bench during the second period after being pulled in favor of
Dennis Hildeby.
This marks the second time a Maple Leafs player has been injured or left the game thanks to a Zadorov hit, as forward
Scott Laughton left the game on Saturday against the Bruins after being hit by the Boston defender.
It would be a blow to Toronto's offense to have their captain out for any extended period of time. This season he has 14 points in 16 games (9 goals, 5 assists) and a plus-9 rating.
Last season was a big talking point due to Matthews dealing with injury issues throughout the season, and while he had healed this season -- a new injury complicates things.
