Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz was seen getting prepared for the 2025-26 season with his coach explaining there's some unfinished business from last year.

Although he was a pleasant surprise for the Maple Leafs last season, there was a lot of concern with Anthony Stolarz given his concussion in the first game of Round Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and whether or not he would be the same this year.
He seems to be healthy and looking to extend on his very cheap $2.5-million deal and cash in at some point this year. But in order to do so, he needs to stay healthy and put in the same type of performance as last season.

Anthony Stolarz Ready For Redemption In 2025-26

Stolarz seems extra motivated this season, as new video shows him working out and looking in prime form. It's his comments though that should get Maple Leafs fans excited.
According to his goaltending coach, Greg Bosak, there's a lot weighing on the goaltender's mind after last year's elimination:
Anthony Stolarz has been looking very sharp in workouts. The first thing he said to me this summer is that there's unfinished business on the table. I know he is incredibly grateful for all the fan support in Toronto and is motivated to bring home a title for the Maple Leafs faithful.
Unfinished business sounds like something the Maple Leafs have dealt with for decades, but for Stolarz this is personal.

Why Anthony Stolarz's Comments Matter

He stunned fans last season and staked his claim for being a true #1 starter and not just the league's preeminent backup, but after being elbowed by Sam Bennett last season; it crushed all momentum.
Stolarz, 31, had a 21-8-4 record with a 2.08 GAA and a .926 SV%; if he hadn't gotten injured in December as well there was a good chance he could have finished with some Vezina votes.
He's going to get his fair share of games, and splitting duties with Woll (another goalie with an injury history) is going to be key to not overworking either of them, but if he gets hot then Toronto needs to ride that as long as possible.
But his comments show that he, much like several other players are full of that passion that Brad Treliving and Craig Berube demand and it's all part of the team's identity change.
So for Stolarz, this upcoming season is as much business as it is personal.
Sounds like good news for the Maple Leafs.
