Maple Leafs fans will get their last chance to see Alex Ovechkin in Toronto on March 28th, but they're going to need to fork out a lot of cash in order to do so.

Monday came with the news that Washington Capitals captain and the NHL's all-time leading goal-scorer Alex Ovechkin was going to be retiring at the end of the 2026-27 season. There was speculation he was leaving this past summer, but decided to stick around and give it one more go.

One of the greatest players of all time is going to no doubt be getting his flowers as he makes his way through the NHL season, and there are surely going be tributes or at least some type of acknowledgement from teams around the league.

Alex Ovechkin's last game in Toronto is going to cost a fortune

For Maple Leafs fans, they are going to get two shots to see Ovechkin, that being in December and March, which isn't that much time for fans to see him - so it's best to start planning now:

Two final chances to see Ovechkin in Toronto against the #Leafs: Dec. 21, March 28

The December game is still going to be a fairly expensive venture, but that March 28th game is the one that fans are likely wanting to attend most - and it's going to cost them.

According to Ticketmaster as of October 5th, the 100 level seating at Scotiabank Arena is going to be an expensive affair for the last game for Ovechkin against the Maple Leafs with tickets going for at minimum $366.67 CAD per ticket; for a more central look, it's going to run you over $530 per ticket.

If you want cheap tickets, you are going to have to endure standing room only 'seating' (a contradiction if there ever was one) but it's still going to cost you $150 CAD per ticket. Combined with travel, parking, concessions, and merchandise - you're still running into the hundreds of dollars.

Alex Ovechkin's history against the Maple Leafs

Though it still may not matter to fans as getting to see the NHL's greatest scorer is a rare opportunity in and of itself, and this being his final season it's even more important.

Ovechkin is no stranger to competing against the Maple Leafs, and he'll be very much looking forward to playing them given that he has 80 points in 64 career games including 45 goals. He's going to look to pad his career total even more over those two games, and he very well might get one if history is to be repeated.

He might not have as many points against Toronto as some of the other teams in the league but each time he stepped on the ice it was always terrifying. Leafs fans knew that anytime Washington was in town - things could get dangerous.

While Ovechkin rides off into the sunset this year, he makes a couple of stops at Scotiabank Arena - one of his favourite stomping grounds. Though let's be honest - he dominated everywhere he went.
