Ozoon (formerly Bodog) had a little fun at the Maple Leafs' expense regarding their Cup drought, but as much humour there is; it exposes the reality of things.

Recently, it seems like the Toronto Maple Leafs have been the butt of some jokes and while that isn't necessarily a new thing considering how long they've been around but it's who's been saying things that is causing a bit of a concern.
It's not just heated rivals or former players making fun of the team for their lack of toughness and failures this season but even Toronto's own media doesn't mind publicly calling them out for their inability to show some spine and when your own home city is poking fun at you; it's an issue.
Well, the jokes haven't stopped there and it's a prominent name who's doing it too.

Even the sports gambling sites can't stay away from making fun of the Maple Leafs

Ozoon, formerly Bodog, is an online sportsbetting and gambling website that is heavily active on social media, often putting out images regarding odds, fan polls, or interesting trivia.
Though one of their most recent images is sure to cause a stir. When they ranked who needs a Stanley Cup the most, it was dominated by four players up top — with the entirety of the Maple Leafs organization (not just players) needing it just as bad.
You know you're in a rough spot when they're pointing to Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl; who have at least made it to the Finals recently. This is a direct shot at the near 60-year drought that has plagued Toronto since 1967.

Why did Toronto suddenly become the NHL's laughingstock

Well, it's not hard to see why. They went from Atlantic Division champions to last place in the division, probably losing your last chance at adding a franchise player to a long-time rival, to having their captain questioning just what the heck management is doing.
Now we aren't reaching Sabres level of territory, but it's also a great lesson for both fans and the team— you can't get too comfortable. Keith Pelley said he never envisioned Buffalo or Montreal being this good.
They weren't. But they also didn't spend their entire future on adding third-liners and mediocre defencemen, nor did they admit they weren't in a bad situation. All of a sudden they are poised to dominate the NHL for years to come with a mix of homegrown talent and savvy transactions.
Everyone thought it was a given that the Maple Leafs made the playoffs, even if the results were historically always similar. But no one expected just how bad it would get.
They need a new coach, new leadership, a new roster, and a lot of luck on their side.
It's not exactly funny watching the league's most profitable and arguably historic franchise suffer such a fall from grace, but if you don't laugh — you're certainly gonna cry.
