Maple Leafs First Rounder Easton Cowan Gets Into His First Fight Of The Season
Easton Cowan has drawn the attention of Maple Leafs fans and continues to do so having gotten into his first fight of the year.
Cowan's Meteoric Rise
During the 2023 draft, the Toronto Maple Leafs shocked everybody by selecting Easton Cowan with the 28th overall pick in the first round. Cowan was projected to go outside of the third round so for the Leafs to take a swing on him must have meant they saw something nobody else did.
Only three games into his OHL season thus far, Cowan has scored 2 goals and 3 assists for five total points, a pace that would be elite if he keeps it up over the course of the season.
#LeafsForever prospect Easton Cowan with some great work to get free and set up Barkey for the goal. Cowan's 4th point in 3 games so far.
I get the feeling Easton Cowan #7 likes killing penalties.
He's toying with Peterborough this entire sequence.
Cowan Gets Into His First Fight
In last night's game against the Sarnia Sting, Cowan got into his first fight of the year showing he can stand up for himself despite being only 5'11".
Cowan would also register 2 assists in last night's game keeping up his elite pace. If he is able to continue growing and showing out at this elite rate, he could wind up in the big leagues as early as next season. Only time will tell what happens with Cowan but right now he is looking like a steal at #28.
